Just a few days ago he urged staff not to be afraid of being first with stories, as long as they were factually accurate. I think I've detected the key phrase...

Alright, this article demands it...
Could someone with a video board please put up the Blues Borthers with the "We're on a mission from God"?
Obviously, this is yet another attempt to make Bush out to be some sort of holy rollin' nut, so let's take it as seriously as the charge demands...namely by making it into a joke.

BBC stupidity strikes again.

When are the Brits going to storm Parliament and demand an end to the tv tax which keeps this leftist, Pali loving nuthouse operation afloat?

It would be pretty hard for me to have stood in the ruins of the World Trade Center, and not heard God shouting for me to invade their countries, kill their leaders, and, well, you know the rest...
The Taliban fell within a few weeks, with only a handful of Americans on the ground... and Saddam fell within a couple of weeks to an army a third the size of his...
Its not over, not by a long shot. But a goodly number of the people who ordered and abetted 911 are either dead or reduced to hiding in holes in the ground. Abbas and the rest can believe what they want about God directing this storm. But they had better hope God doesn't start talking to Bush about them.

But later in the day a spokesman, Scott McClellan, said Mr Bush had "never made such comments."
Sorry Scotty, but what caused the BBC to change their minds is the fact that their hero Abbas has already denied that Bush said it.

Yet nowhere in the article do the speculate that the cause of not running the story is that's false...

Just 24 hours after accusations that the corporation's news coverage was backing away from risk-taking... Translation: after being caught in a bald-faced lie, the BBC suddenly realized it was going to be in deep [feces] if it didn't straighten up and fly right.
Risk-taking my foot.

BBC is on a race to the bottom against the NY times.
Mean while, the blogoshere has lapped the MSM many times.

But later in the day a spokesman, Scott McClellan, said Mr Bush had "never made such comments." However, Mr McClellan admitted he had not been at the June 2003 meeting referred to in the BBC2 programme.
Well, of course he wasn't there, he is not a politician. He is the White House Press Secretary!
This is so, so transparent. Are Guardian readers so stupid they cannot see that they are being manipulated by statements like this?
