Preface
The purpose of this book is to convey to a non-Muslim audience an understanding of Islam, its history, culture, and contribution to civilization.
The mix of an easy-to-read text and visual representations including maps, charts, pictures, and drawings with informative captions explains the important message of Islam in a way that the reader will hopefully find thoughtful and appealing. Relevant verses of the Qur'an and sayings of the Prophet (Hadith) have been included where appropriate, as support for the narrative, and their interspersing sets out their relevant importance. The Arabic text of the Qur'an was also included because no translation can do it justice.
Most of the Qur'an quotes were translated by me in reliance upon several published translations, especially The Holy Qur'an translated by Abdullah Yusuf Ali (Khalil Al-Rawaf, 1946). My translation was done with a view to make the non-Arabic reader better understand the intended meaning.
This is both an informative and an artistic book which covers many aspects of Islam: religious, historical, geographic, social, legal, political, economic, cultural, scientific, and artistic. These aspects are dealt with in a way which at times may seem cursory but this does not forsake accuracy or depth.
The primary goal of this book is to inform those who know little or nothing about Islam and to enhance their understanding. As an educator that is all I can ask for and as a Muslim, that is all I can aspire to. But as a member of the family of humankind I would feel gratified if this book can lead to a better understanding among peoples of the world and thus contribute to peace and harmony in our universe. Whether all or some of these expectations will be fulfilled is some thing the reader will have to judge.

Is this idiot still in the news? It'll be interesting to see if this visit makes any of the Chicagoland news outlets. I'll keep my eyes open and report back to FR after the fact.

Hey guys, I'm Joe Blewitt president of the DePaul College Republicans. This display almost brought I tear to my eye when I was just starting to think we were alone in the fight. We've run into quite a bit of outrageous red tape that the University seems to have invented just for conservatives. Lucky for us, its red tape that the media should eat right up. Anyone who wants a list of greivances or a press release please just let me know at DePaulGOP@gmail.com. Also, we're down to the wire now with no true protest organize. You guys are pros, we have little to no experiance in protesting so any help at all would be MOST appreciated.

As one of many conservative adjunct professors "purged" in the past decade by the once Catholic DePaul University administration, I assure you you're mistaken to think that Ward Churchill is persona non grata at DePaul. Postmodernist DePaul does not operate Ex Corde Ecclesiae, if you catch my drift. That said, I fully support your protest.

From Communist Chicago Indymedia...
The Activist Student Union (ASU) of DePaul University is calling for all people concerned with defending Ward Churchill's views and with defending academic freedom, to rally at DePaul.
Churchill was invited by DePaul's Cultural Center and the ASU to speak because of his political views and his history of standing up and fighting for human rights and dignity.
Were it not for right-wing attacks that have included threatening letters to the staff at the Cultural Center and a letter from the Governor of Colorado urging DePaul to cancel this event, this speaking engagement would be open to all. We must take a stand against those who wish to silence progressive voices, and fight so that Churchill's message is heard.
Where: At the corner of Belden and Kenmore. From the Fullerton el- one block south and one block west. This is outside the Student Center where Churchill will speak.
When: 5:00pm
Expect ANSWER, UFPJ, CPUSA, ISO, NION, RCP, Sparticus, and the WWP to be there flacking for the Fake indian.
