Tina Lee-Vogt plans to spend her 40th birthday just as she did her 30th - at Disneyland. On the invitations, she's calling the party for her Oct. 14 birthday "The Happiest 40th Birthday Celebration on Earth."
"But as my birthday approaches, it gets more and more bittersweet," says Lee-Vogt, who lives in Elk Grove. "I'm really looking forward to my birthday because in many ways I've never felt better in my life. But it's sad to think that I'll outlive my brother, and it reinforces how young he really was when he died.
. . . Her brother, Anthony Dwain Lee, was killed by a Los Angeles police officer on Oct. 28, 2000. He was 39, an actor emerging into movie and TV success after years in regional theater. He'd been in "Liar, Liar" and shows such as "NYPD Blue" and "ER."
When he died, he was in costume, too - wearing a police officer's uniform and attending a friend's Halloween party in Benedict Canyon.
. . . "It's a great tragedy. It's difficult to even talk about it because the loss of his life was so unnecessary."
You likely remember the circumstances of Anthony Dwain Lee's death. That night in the Hollywood Hills, the Halloween party grew loud, and neighbors called the police. Although his sister has always maintained he'd never be so reckless, Lee allegedly brandished a rubber prop gun at an officer, who fired nine shots. Four hit Lee in the back, killing him.
He died still wearing his police officer's costume, with a "Victory Over Violence" button in his pocket that was left over from a peace rally he'd recently attended with other members of his Buddhist church.

Hit him in the back 4 times? What am I missing? Did he "brandish it" and then ran?
Hmmm. I give him 9.2, if the uniform made him look like a Hott Cop.
Weird.
My mother-in-law's life-mate's family name is Creamer.
Tina Lee-Vogt
You know what the hyphen stands for.
Just kidding!
I know the guy died a horrible and tragic death, but...
He died still wearing his police officer's costume, with a "Victory Over Violence" button in his pocket that was left over from a peace rally he'd recently attended with other members of his Buddhist church.
I don't know. What's Anita's message here? It's Buddha's fault? Taking things home from work can have unintended consequences?
Her brother obviously never saw Chris Rock's instructional video, "How not to get your @$$ kicked by the police".
So, he died of extreme idiocy?

So, he was an idiot in life and in death?
