I went back and reread that you'd indicated that he'd swatted a caller down crudely.
Syntax can be a tricky thing and it's still a valid interpretation if a reader who does not know your intent could think that you thought Tony's manner was crude.
And in fairness, we write quickly on FR and sometimes it's not the same as if we were writing a white paper for work.
Can we at least see that each of us may have written something one way and it could be construed another way?
I also had the idea that I was trying to empathize with you, but I understand that I may not have communicated it sufficiently well.
I would really like to resolve this in a friendly way.

I apologize. I did use the word "crudely". Too much haste on my menu today.
Please substitute the word "rudely" for my error.
Thanks for pointing this out.

Dubya has failed miserably over the illegal issue just as have the previous chief executives. What upsets me the most is student visas. How many 9/11 terrorist had expired student visas, or just expired visas.
I went to Australia back in 1991. Your visa number was entered in a computer as was your entrance day and the expiration date on your visa. Their computer program notified customs there if your visa did not show up as exiting the country before it expired. Why can't we do that. Seems so simple to me. Foreigners should have no privacy rights in this country.

"Taxpayers' dollars go to ACLU ? Is that true ?"
Someone else may have more info on this than I do, but as I understand it, unfortunately, yes, we do.

The House voted for 1000 more Border control agents in the Homeland Security funding bill they passed yesterday...
A bill was passed and signed into law last year which funded 1000 more border patrol agents, but no extra ones were hired by Bush. They simply replaced those who left due to attrition.
