LIMA After receiving a letter from the Mexican consulate warning him about profiling Mexicans, Sheriff Dan Beck said Monday his agency may increase enforcement against illegal immigrants. If this is the type of attitude he wants, it appears hes trying to coerce me into doing noth-ing. It tells me this is a more important issue. He just raised the priority here, Beck said. Beck was talking about a letter he received from Antonio Meza, the consul for the Mexican Consulate in Detroit. The letter was sent to Beck last month after Beck announced a plan to train his deputies on recognizing fraudulent forms of identification. In the letter, Meza said hes been informed that Becks agency is targeting Mexican nationals living and working in the area. He also said Becks officers have gone as far as to ask Mexicans for their immigration papers as they wait to be picked up by their employers. I cannot see being an immigrant and a day laborer as reasons to be profiled, Meza wrote. Meza went on to say Mexicans come to the community to work and do not cause problems. His office has advised Mexicans to respect and cooperate with police, he said. However, if they begin to mistrust you and believe that you are not interested in solving crimes but acting as deputy of Immigrations agents, it will make everyones jobs more diffi-cult, Meza wrote in the letter. Meza said a Mexican national includes an illegal immigrant. Beck said his deputies do not profile Mexicans and the letter is full of misstatements. Meza said he sent the letter after receiving complaints from two community organizations that deputies were using profiling to conduct traffic stops to ask for citizenship documents. Meza decline identify either group. Meza said he was only responding to claims made to him that he did not investigate. He said he was not trying to anger Beck and has not received another claim, he said. Mezas letter came on the heels of Becks announcement to form a working group to ad-dress crime associated with illegal immigrants. Beck expressed his concerns after a triple fatal car crash July 24 involving illegal immigrants. He also was concerned after an accused child molester from Hamilton fled to Lima to avoid prosecution. Meza said Beck has not responded to his letter or extended an invitation to meet, as Meza requested in the Sept. 6 letter. Beck said he plans to send a letter in response but hasnt gotten around to it, partly because he was out of the office for nearly two weeks. Hes not a priority on my list. Hes not important to me. Im not going to jump every time someone sends a letter to my office, Beck said. He needs to understand hes a guest of the U.S. and hes not going to prejudge someone the people of this county elected. Beck said he has no problem with anyone in the country who is a citizen, but those who are not are violating the law, he said. Beck is concerned about the growing population of illegal immigrants in the community and fears it could bring an increase in violent crime, he said. He also is concerned with crime that is unreported to police, he said. Im talking about domestic violence, alcohol-related assaults, sexual-abuse situations, he said. Lima Municipal Court records do not show how many illegal immigrants go through the sys-tem but does show the amount of money spent on Spanish-speaking interpreters has increased in the past few years. In 2002, the court spent $466 on interpreters. Through August of this year, the court had spent $834, according to records. Municipal Judge William Lauber said the Spanish-speaking people appearing in his court are usually accused of the same crimes as anyone else appearing. Those include traffic violations and drunken driving, he said.

2nd Amendment News Archive More of Ohio's highest-ranking law enforcement officials weigh in new concealed carry law.
Allen County Sheriff Dan Beck expects a flood of applicants, although he believes the number of people who get one will represent a small percentage of the population.
"The good citizens that we have will obey this law in every way," Sheriff Beck said. "The bad guys will always carry a gun, whether they have a permit of not."

Geez...I miss the Duke. We need more guys like him; particularly with all these candy-ass metrosexuals running around trying to tell real men how to do things. Guh.
Hell...we could use more like him in Washington, D.C.!!

While this man refuses to defend our borders against the Mexican/Central American invaders. I voted for him twice but the ilegal aliens numbers are much worse under GWBush than under Bill Clinton
Thanks.... I just e-mailed the good sheriff!
Protect our borders and coastlines from all foreign invaders!
Support our Minutemen Patriots!
Be Ever Vigilant ~ Bump!
Hopefully Bush is enough of a lame duck that his dishonest massive amnesty-by-another-name proposal is DOA.
GWBush has sort of cleared the decks with his two Supreme Court nominations. He has this fall to try and run his stupid amnesty through Congress
It's all about reconquesta baby. Over my dead body!
If I were that Sheriff I'd send the Mexican crimeboss a copy of my finger.
We sure do, and I wrote him and told him so. Here in El-Lay, illegal parasites get a free pass, and it's sickening.
I'm proud he's a buckeye!
WAY TO GO, SHERIFF BECK! :^)

Though I'm in agreement with most of you about illegal immigration, Dan Beck is the last person I trust on major issues. He screws up the smaller ones, too, but that's another topic.
Beck has been in one controversy after another and is prone to lying when confronted with the truth. He has this issue half right, but he's not the man a knowing person would want in charge. He's the type of sheriff who would enjoy nothing better than to issue martial law and bully the local citizens.
One recent example is that during the ice storm last year, he bragged that he ticketed so many drivers because they were out in the weather, that he had to order more tickets. No one was allowed on the streets. No one wanted to be on the streets, but some had family emergencies and were ticketed. One man drove across town to get his grandchildren, who were without heat, electricity, & water.
There are dozens of stories about this idiot, who finally grabbed an issue that would make him famous. He got lucky, but if checked out, would be toppled from his self-made pedastal.

Minutemen host Chicago summit on national security and illegal immigration
The Chicago Minuteman Project will host the America First: Summit on National Security on Saturday, October 15, 2005 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Minorities and immigrants are among the leaders who will speak at the summit held at the Christian Liberty Academy, 502 W. Euclid Ave., in Arlington Heights, IL.
Co-founders of the Chicago Minuteman Project, Rosanna Pulido and Rick Bieseda, were among the original group of Minutemen to patrol the Arizona border in April, 2005. They were the first to establish a Minuteman group in a non-border state where the emphasis is on holding employers and politicians accountable for obeying immigration laws.
Indicative of the multi-ethnic mix of speakers, Rosanna Pulido is an American of Mexican descent. Her background includes working as a volunteer for the National Rifle Association as an EVC.
Long before the Governors of NM and AZ declared states of emergency due to problems caused by illegal aliens, County Commissioner Robert Vasquez, an American of Mexican decent, sought to declare Canyon County, Idaho a disaster area due to strains caused by illegal aliens. He is now running for Congress.
Descended from slaves and American Indians, Terry Anderson bills himself as the Prisoner of South Central on his all-immigration radio talk show on KRLA in Los Angeles.
Kevin Fobbs-is Founder & President of National Urban Policy Action Council. He serves as American Chairman for the upcoming Michigan/Ontario Neighborhood Border Watch 2005. Mr. Fobbs hosts a daily talk show on WDTK-1400 AM in Detroit.
These multi-ethnic speakers have one thing in common. They are Americans first. They will address the numerous ways illegal immigration threatens our national security.
The media is invited to attend the Rally and interview our Speakers, Politicians and the Minuteman Volunteers.

That attitude regarding hometown citizens is repugnant. Thanks for the heads-up!
I have spoken with Sheriff Beck personally at great length. He is a great American and a pitbull. NO One is gonna push him Around!!
I had invited him to speak at our Chicago Summit.
After reading this article I called and re-invited him!
WE MUST ENCOURAGE HIM WITH CARD LETTERS AND E_MAILS!!
The good sheriff has been e-mailed compliments for his courage to stand up for what is right. I wish my county sheriff was as courageous.
I was just emphasizing the need for strict law enforcement vis-a-vis the illegal immigrant problem.
Thank you for the reply. I am behind the minutemen 100%. I am not behind Sheriff Beck because I know him. As a matter-of-fact, he is the reason I became interested in politics. He ran for sheriff the same year Clinton ran for president the first time. I thought that he and Clinton had a lot in common, even back then. And I was right.
