RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A woman was booted off a Southwest Airlines flight for wearing a T-shirt that bore an expletive and images of President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Lorrie Heasley of Woodland, Wash., said she plans to press a civil-rights complaint against the airline over Tuesday's action at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, halfway through Heasley's scheduled trip from Los Angeles to Portland, Ore.
"I have cousins in Iraq and other relatives going to war," Heasley told the Reno Gazette-Journal. "Here we are trying to free another country and I have to get off an airplane ... over a T-shirt. That's not freedom."
Southwest Airlines spokeswoman Marilee McInnis said several passengers complained about the shirt.
Heasley, a 32-year-old lumber saleswoman, said passengers began complaining after she and her husband, Ron, moved to the front of the cabin in Reno.
She agreed to cover the words with a sweatshirt, but when the sweatshirt slipped while she was trying to sleep, she was ordered to wear her T-shirt inside-out or leave.
She and her husband left. They arrived home in a rental car Wednesday afternoon.
McInnis said Southwest rules allow the airline to deny boarding to any passenger whose clothing is "lewd, obscene or patently offensive."
But Allen Lichtenstein, lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union in Las Vegas, said it "might be problematic" that the airline "changed rules in the middle of a flight."
Heasley said she has been in touch with ACLU lawyers in Seattle, and wants Southwest to reimburse her for the last leg of the trip.
Hannity got his behind kicked, as usual when arguing with liberal twits.
He basically used the "children" straw-man argument that liberals themselves use.
Plus he needs to understand the full concept of free speech. Free speech restricts the government, not for private entities such as Southwest Airlines.
I was thinking the same thing. If she has relatives fighting in Iraq why would she wear a shirt that Disses the Commander in Chief. Its obvious to me the sweatshirt didnt just slip so her T-shirt could be read , who dies she think she if fooling with that one.
This woman is a lying sack of crap, No lady thats for sure, would wear anything like this.
Does anyone know the lumber company?

She have to run against the dumbest person in the Senate, Patty Murray. And Maria Cant vote well.
Both dims and declared idiots by us in WA who don't live in Seattle.
Praise our ancestors, and our honored dead, who kept this nation free, where PRIVATE PROPERTY exists and private companies can be run by the people who built and OWN them.
TAKE ANOTHER CARRIER YOU SKANKY HAG.
F her.

Baloney. The rules didn`t change ; What changed was somebody actually read the T-Shirt and then applied the rules.
The vanity of this person to think that everyone walking in his/her presence takes the time to look and read the T-shirt they are wearing goes to show just how much on a high horse this person puts themselves.
Profanity is not necassarily protected speech. You cannot go to a shopping mall and hold a sign that says " F*^% Bush ", it would be deemed disorderly conduct and you would be arrested if you continued to hold the sign in view of the public. Change the "F word" to say "Idiot", then its a different story.
Hannity can't argue with liberals - despite what he said, the lady doesn't have a free speech right. Southwest should move to throw this laughable, attention-getting lawsuit dismissed. This lady obviously wore the stupid shirt to create a scene.
Hannity should discontinue having liberals on his radio show. Leave the taking apart liberal arguments to professionals such as Rush.
" Freedom of speech/press, etc only applies to Congress. Congress cannot make any law abridging freedom of speech...
She is in private property when she wore her tshirt. This is a property rights case."
The rules are a little bit different in "places of public accomodation." For example, someone allows no handicapped people were allowed in their house that would legal but movie theaters are places of public accomodation and cannot exclude base on race, religion etc.
I liked the typo the way it was. ;)
"What kind of timber company would employ a hippie like that?"
One that specializes in woodies? Sorry, I couldn't resist your straight line.
I don't know if it was standing up for GWB or trying to keep a fight from starting on the plane (can't yell fire in a crowded theatre)
Odd thing is that the old South Worst used to have only female flight attendants in go-go shorts and tight blouses. Back when they were a small Texas/DFW area carrier.
(sigh. I miss those days)
Wrong. Private entities have a right to restrict what clothing you can or cannot wear.
( . . . LOL . . . )
It was. It was the heads of Cheney (or Rummy; I wasn't sure which in the bad video I saw) GWB and Condi, with "MEET THE f*CKERS" emblazoned underneath them, in large letters.
Interestingly, the station that carried the story about the airline "censoring" her, BLOCKED OUT THE WORDS on the screen! Bwaaaahahahahaha!.
Here's the requisite "What if...?" question, What if the T-shirt said "Praise Jesus" who's side would the ACLU be on? How about "F*** Jesus"?
