Based on what I just saw on Brit Humme's Special Report, it sounds like Robert Novak's testimony may have been more detailed about Rove mentioning Plame by name. This whole ordeal could be over a "white lie" or an honest memory malfunction. Karl Rove could have gone before the Grand Jury and stated that he didn't even know Plame's name and never mentioned her by name to any reporter, when in fact, he did.
If this is only one piece of this curious puzzle, it is indeed a shame because the intent of the charge (trying to "out" an undercover agent) is still laughable. But if Rove did lie to the Special Prosecutor, about ANYTHING, he's doomed.
And like oceanview says: A perjury charge is actually worse politically then the "plame name" charge. the sheeple understand the word "perjury". they don't understand releasing the name of someone - its no big deal to the average american to release the name of someone who is on the cover of vanity fair.
If Rove is indicted, the media will pick and chose and will unfairly paint and gleefuly destroy this ENTIRE ADMINISTRATION. The thought sickens me, but it is a reality. Before we know it, Bush will be up on impeachment charges. If Rove is indeed indicted, we better get ready for the biggest political war known to this country. Republicans have already proven they have no spine to fight and will tuck tail and run from Bush trying to save their own sorry hides. We need to pray very hard for our President and his administration.
Right now I'm afraid, very afraid.

If this were true then Rove would be a target. If there was a crime. The prosecutor would not bring a target into the Grand Jury room. Doesn't happen.
The target would not have a lawyer.
The prosecutor could see the case thrown out.
Novak said from the beginning that the press was looking in the wrong place for the source of his info.
