Well, you probably know a lot more about your daughter's college than I do....and frankly, I can't say, were I in your position, that I would truly HAVE to do the same as you.....I think that statement of mine was a bit flippant...

Exactly. There has to be conversation between parents and children regarding the dangers they face. The problem is the schools and popular culture. Not many parents can keep their kids in a vacuum. We have a responsibility to expose how ugly the world is, and give them the skills and wisdom to avoid ending up like these girls. Unfortunately, teenagers think they know it all : (

"Taylor wasn't killed in an office building doing her job"

Is that requirement for you to stop blaming the victim? That they be "on the job"? It's the fault of the victim when they are murdered off the clock?

"So your example looks kind of childish now doesn't it."

I don't understand what your point is, but I probably never will. You want to blame the victim in this case, but not in other cases?

Your position on this issue reminds me of how the police caught a serial rapist at UGA. The news media interviewed a guy who later turned out to be the rapist; his public position was that "they brought it upon themselves" for "dressing like sluts".

Sophistry.

Who's child were you hoping for?

I was hoping it wasn't anyones child. Your comment wasn't needed. Yesterday on the local news here they had said it was decomposed and they (media) speculated it might be a dead animal at first before the coroner got close enough. That is what we all had hoped it was in our community. Please learn ALL the facts before you say something so thoughtless in this time of grief.

Yeah this dude kinda looks like Johnny Depp. It's no surprise that girls probably had a thing for him at first until they found out how old and weird he was. Anyway it's pretty hard to protect yourself against an obsessed stalker ex boyfriend that wants to kill you unless you hire a body guard and disappear.

I don't think anbody thought he was a killer either so she had no warning when she went over to borrow the skateboard.

parents of sons are part of the problem...why do you let him get on the computer and get those photos....IF you want to live your word, you'll immediately go and take the computer away and forbide him from getting on one again...

but you won't..

God save us from parents so blindsided that they fail to see any fault in their own child...its always the other kids, right?..

girls will slither down to the lowest common denominator just to gain the attention and approval of males, so you son is actually encouraging those provacative photos...

(I use the word "slither" because I HATE what passes for behaviour nowadays)...

as far as Nat goes, you don't know and I don't know exactly what happened but we do have the testimony of people there of what they think happened...and we do know that that bar had a rep of slipping drugs into girls drinks....

Excuse Me again- He does not live with me and he is 20 yrs old.

I teach him to respect women, but unforunately women in his peer group do not respect themselves, if you could see what they write him and what they say you would fall off your chair.

I gotta stick up for her Mom because if anyone's been following this case they know that her mother had no clue that she even knew this guy and wasn't all that thrilled about her going to this particular school.

Where I agree with you is about her Dad. Her parent's are divorced and when Taylor first went to visit the school back in February, he dropped her off at a 21 year old friends apartment. That's how she met Ben. He was a roommate of the friend. Now, granted this guy doesn't look 38, (I think he looks 28, 29) but surely he's no college student. Her father met Ben and he has said that he had no qualms letting Taylor stay there. Why not? I would. I wouldn't let my 17 year old daughter stay with 2 adult men for the weekend - what was he thinking?

If you had said "I'm sorry for this mother's loss. We should all prepare our daughters for the evil that awaits them" that would have been a site different than what you did say.

Yes, I could have beat around the bush to satisfy the PC whiners here on FR, but that would have served only to obscure my point. I'm one of those people who believe in calling a spade a F'ing shovel. If I wanted PC, I'd go to DU.

As it is, the point is now made more forcefully than I could have hoped, and while the PC crowd is quick to accuse me of blameing the victim, at least the thought is in their heads that lack of parenting is at least partly to blame for bad choices and early deaths made by these very young women.

As for Tailors mom, I watched every interview televised of her, on all the networks looking for clues. Its quite clear she was clueless about her 17yr old daughter's life, calling her a stay-at-home girl, unaware of the 6 month sexual relationship with a 38 year old guy that pre-dated her going to college.

I know my daughters faults. She may not manage her money well, she may procrastinate, and her room was always a mess. But, at 25, she's well aware of the dangers in the world and well aware that being careful to only blame the perpatrator will not do her any good when she's laying on a slab in the morgue. As I posted in a prior reply to this thread, her comment about Natalie was "Stupid Girl! Dead Girl!".

I think your comment could be best summed up as:

I gotta stick up for her Mom because if anyone's been following this case they know that her mother had no clue.

I agree with your [amended] assessment. But I point out it was her mothers JOB to know that her 17yr old daughter was in bed with ths 38 year old well before she went to college.

What a sad discovery! Not just for parents and friends, but for all of us news junkies, as well. Equally sad is that most experienced detectives would admit that, in most muders, there are two perpetrators -- the killer and the victim. Without meaning any offense to anyone, I suggest that a really close look at Taylor Behl's secret life may shed considerable light on this investigation.

I saw one interview with Taylor's mom and Greata Van Sustren and the mother definetly was loaded or drunk she couldn't even speak in a coherant manner.

You don't have a clue on why I posted that. FR is famous for snarky remarks and I find them very offensive.

I will refrain from posting on any local news stories. You do know that by silencing comments, your story won't get any attention.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I also have tried to remain calm and some people are too quick to blame someone who cannot defend herself and demonize parents that most likely did the best they could.

Absolutely disgusting that a freeper would blame the mother of a murder victim like that. You should be ashamed of yourself.
