Yes, b/c I don't want any new entitlement spending, new federal spending, reduced existing spending, less social programs, no budget deficits, proven strict constructionists on the court...I belong at DU.
Nice logic!
That's not what I wrote. I stated that if you disagree with Bush and the GOP 100% of the time you belong at DU. Have you ever agreed with us? A quick glance at your other posts reveals you have nothing nice to say about my party.
Now I disagree with Bush 100% of the time?
I disagree with his liberal/socialist policies, which I have named off several times before.
I am a righty before I am a Republican.
Are you a Republican? Can you name a few Republican Senators you admire or respect? Do you like anything Dubya has done? Tax cuts, the WOT, Roberts and other judges, something else? I didn't spend a lot of time on your In Forum page but I did sample some of it. I didn't see any praise of Bush or the GOP. Only scorn.
Like I have to prove myself to you that I am not a DU'er?
Disagree with Bush's Big Government Socialism = You are a DU'er /Bushbot.
You are not a Republican. You don't like any of them.
What, are you like 12 or something?
Have a nice day.

"But the apprehension is:
When we are able to tell, it will be too late. For the Supreme Court, there are no 'do overs'."
Not only that, but Bush will no longer be held accountable. He can't run for another election.
He must be held accountable NOW.
"I refuse to believe that he would send up a person who will not be a conservative vote."
Why? He's never said he was a conservative, has he?
>The President is a religio-cultural conservative who
>believes in big government and big spending and
>paternalistic federal intervention in areas where few
>conservatives have ever previously thought it wise.
"Since most religio-cultural conservatives are the children and grandchildren of New Deal Democrats and the great grandchildren of Williams Jenning Bryan Populists this is not a contradiction. Religio-cultural conservatives are not the descendents of Taft-McKinley-Coolidge Old Guard Republicans."
Point taken. The only problem with trying to figure out how GWB fits in this, just remember that he's from Connecticut. He moved with his family when he was young, but his background is a product of that area.
His grandfather was a Republican senator, so one can assume his family has been old guard Republican for quite some time.
If anythings to explain his centrism, it might be the general drift of people his age from the N.E. states away from "olde" republicanism. His big statism, then, is not populist based, but Yankee bred.
Just an opinion.
"Religio-cultural conservatives are not the descendents of Taft-McKinley-Coolidge Old Guard Republicans."
Another thing I should add, having a look at Wiki's entry on Prescott Bush: W's grandfather was pro-choice and knew Margaret Sanger. The site links to a '47 document showing that he was a treasurer for Planned Parenthood's campaign that year:

So if you ever wondered why the Bushes are wobbily....now you some of the reason why.
No, I think it is because he took to Texas. His father's roots were Coolidge Old Guard Republican but the son has become a Sunbelt New Deal Democrat turned Republican.
Texas does that to people. It is a seductive culture and it tends to change you. There is something about the fiery optimism and virility of Texan culture that has Yankees saying "thank you much" within weeks.
