Allen is better than many, but by no means my first choice for President in '08. Stuff like this is why.
Watching paint dry is mroe fun than watching Senator Allen on TV. The guy has no appeal. He has a habit of putting his foot in his mouth. I kinda got turned off when he suggested that Bush should meet with Cindy Sheehan a second time.
He has been my first choice. I need to look into this more. First blush is troubling.
You guys do realize that congressmen as well vote on lots of little amednemnts that can be twisted and turned around so before you run off beating your chests to Pence remember that he has his fair share of votes you could go digging into to twist around. He's been in office just as long as Allen. The problem with all these Allen bashers is they expect him to be perfect 100% of the time and when it seems like he messes up they pounce on him and scream he's unqualified for the job. Of course nobody cares about the fact that Pence caved last week to house GOP leaders and turned tail at the Young America's speaking this by running off praising them and not taking Q&A's since he knew they'd be asking about it.
2008 is going to be a tough year for republicans. the party stands for nothing if it allows the clintons to walk back into the white house, and I don not see any "perfect on the issues" candidate who can also win, out there.
