Can you shed any light on why there was such a disconnect between the walkie-talkie equipped Guardsmen inside the Dome and Guardsmen outside it, such that the latter felt the need to assault the interior of the dome in force? Try reading the article. The "assualt" was at the Convention Center, not the Dome. They are a couple of miles apart and the Convention Center was not a designated shelter. People just began showing up there after the storm passed, many of them tourists forced out of their hotels.

I guess I always associated the "assault" with the dome - and therefore saw what I expected rather than what was there.
