Race Menu for the weekend series
Kansas Speedway boasts great views from every seat and easy access in and out of the 1 1/2-mile,
state-of-the-art facility, a response to growing interest for motorsports entertainment in the Midwest.
Though the tri-oval track design is not unique to Kansas Speedway,
a slight difference in the banking makes this track unique.

NASCAR suspends crew chief under substance-abuse rules
NASCAR on Thursday suspended Nextel Cup crew chief Glenn Darrow indefinitely for a violation of the sanctioning body's substance-abuse policy.
Darrow has been the crew chief of the No. 37 Dodge, owned by R&J Racing, which has been competing most recently with driver Tony Raines.
According to NASCAR, Darrow was tested for banned substances last Saturday at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Tests were positive.
Darrow's suspension is the second this season for NASCAR, which also suspended Busch Series driver Shane Hmiel earlier this season for the same reason.
Hmiel's violation was his second under the policy.

Kenseth renegotiating with Roush: #17-Matt Kenseth was busy testing last week at Kansas and Charlotte, and while his immediate concern was working on his Busch setups, the 2003 Cup champion and his fellow Roush racers also have been thinking about the personnel turnover that will come at the end of this season. "Definitely people come at your good guys with money, especially during contract years," Kenseth says. "It's not as bad as the NFL yet, but that's all part of the sport. You have to audit your own system and keep up with incentives and keep up with the payroll because other teams will do what it takes to get your drivers and your crew members that they want." Kenseth is renegotiating his own contract but says, "I'm certainly planning on staying at Roush."(Sporting News)(10-5-2005)

The rest of the
Jayski news -
- Mikey's penalties from New Hampshire were rescinded by the the National Stock Car Racing Commission (he gets his $10,000 and 25 drivers' points back, and Theresa gets the 25 owners' points for the #15 back).
- Speaking of Mikey, he may well give David Reutimann a shot at the Cup Dream Machine at Charlotte.
- Tony Raines had an interview with HoF racing last week.
- Speaking of Raines, his current team, the R&J Racing #37, fired crew chief Glenn Darrow just before NASCAR suspended him indefinitely for violating the substance abuse policy.
- More on the COT - Roush, Penske, Hendrick, Evernham, Gibbs, DEI, Childress and Petty all will be represented at the Atlanta test on Halloween. Also, there is a mock race scheduled for Daytona after the 2006 Pepsi 400 with 25-30 cars.
And a rather-lengthy Busch series update from
BGNRacing.com:
- Team Rensi (#25 Marines/#35 McDonald's) is building a $5 million, 40,000 square-foot facility just north of Mocksville, NC after getting at least $100,000 from the local gubmints.
- Crew-chief changes: JJ Porter's out of the #23, Gere Kennon replacees Jon Wolfe on the #38
- Visits to the Gulf Coast were made by Ganassi drivers Casey Mears, David Stremme and Kevin Hamlin; and by #32 owner Todd Braun and his driver Jason Leffler.
- In case you missed the entry list above, a Bodine's back; he's replacing Randy LaJoie in the #34 for the next couple races, with LaJoie returning to the car for the Memphis race 10/22.
- In testing news...
- Busch testing at tracks the series runs will be reduced from 9 to 4 mandated tracks (Daytona, Las Vegas, Charlotte and Richmond). The 6 tests for the Cup boys plan was previously disclosed, and the Trucks will have 3 tests (dunno if they're also at mandated tracks).
- Tire leasing from Badyear to limit "non-authorized" tests (say the Cup boys at the Milwaukee Mile) is still on the hot-rumor plate, and some teams are now rumored to be working with Hoosier (not Hooters, glock :-) to provide tires for these "non-authorized" tests.
- ppc Racing GM Keith Barnwell has left the team to take essentially the same job at Evernham (guiding Erin Crocker).
- Brewco has Kleenex back in the #27 and Duraflame and an unnamed sponsor in the #66. They hope to have David Green and Biffle back, but...
- ...Roush wants Biffle as part of his 2 full-time (Carl Edwards and Todd Kluever)/3 part-time (Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth, and Biffle) 2006 Busch effort. While Roush Racing president Geoff Smith said there's a possibility Biffle will do a handful of races for Brewco, he wants them to provide a car for one of Roush's development drivers.
- Robby Gordon, who will run the Charlotte Busch race, wants to run 20 Busch races next year, splitting driving duties between himself and an unnamed driver.

LOL. That ain't no sneak attack, though; it's a full-frontal assault, with 40% casualties already taken.

I could hear someone testing over at Redwood Acres yesterday but I doubt it was a Cup car or a Busch team but I was curious who it was...

I heard a good one today but you can't tell Grok. If you mix clorox and brake fluid you get lots of smoke...
