I thought they released the roommate after questioning. I would think if he had terrorist connections they would hold him longer.

I wondered about that too, but maybe they want to try to let him lead them to others.... I sure hope they are doing a full, thorough investigation!! Don't need any more Clintonista-type investigations in our lifetimes.

As I recall, they had Atta and released him after questioning also.....I'm probably late with this, sure it's been mentioned somewhere else along the way...just started reading the thread.

2. Good chance they want to see if he tries to contact someone. Pretty common to release a rat and hope to follow him to the cheese.

One could only assume that the FBI is hoping that the released "roommate" will panic and thus contact any "handlers" via cellphone, etc.
Likewise it is likely that he is being watched / tailed 27/7.
