How does the deal with the kitchen matches fit into this part of the scenario? There have been account of him carrying hundreds of kitchen matches, and speculation that they might have been some sort of means of spreading disease.
There are posts that say the kitchen matches wound up on the ground near the park bench.

I've been thinking about those matches. The OUDaily story mentions the matches being where the bench used to be. My first thought was that he'd been trying to light his bomb like Reid, but after thinking about it longer, that no longer makes sense. Any evidence would be collected by the police when they collected the bench. Either the story is just plain wrong, or the matches might have come from some other source. Perhaps the benches had ash trays near them. I doubt if you can smoke indoors at OU. The bench might have been a smoking area. The butts would mostly end up in the cans, but the matches might end up on the ground. For that matter, there might have been butts on the ground and it just didn't register with the reporter that was looking at the scene. I also take into account that the reporter is a student, not an experienced professional.
