1ST BDE (SBCT) 25TH ID Accomplishments
Here are just a few things we did in Mosul and the outlying Tigris River Valley in Iraq.
The enemy we faced: Al Queda Iraq, Ansar al Sunna, Former Regime elements and various common criminals. We faced 3,056 enemy attacks, 1,335 IED attacks (we found a reduced 439 of them), 84 Suicide car bombs, and 1,513 direct fire and 631 indirect fire attacks. We responded with constant patrolling and kept units in our sectors at all times. We detained over 3,050 enemy combatants, including 179 high level terrorists like Abu Talha, one of the senior Al Queda officials in Iraq, and killed over 550 enemy combatants. We recovered and destroyed 142 enemy mortar systems which brought mortar attacks down from over 300 a month to less than 10 per month. We even rescued nine kidnap victims, including one local broadcast journalist, who was rescued by Iraq security forces working with the 1st BN 5th IN.
Our relationship with the local populace: Information call in tips went from nothing to 400 per month throughout the city of Mosul. We medically screened over 2,000 Iraqi children providing them aid that they would not have been able to get under Sadam. We gave optometry equipment to a local hospital to allow them to give eye exams and make glasses for local Iraqis. We spent $72.5 million on 415 nation building projects in the Mosul and Tigris River Valley areas. These projects included schools, hospitals, health clinics, bridges, roads, water and sewer projects.
The Iraqi Security Forces: We rebuilt a police force that fell from 11,000 to 300 back up to 9,000 trained police. We increased the number of police stations in our area from 5 to 24 stations. We went from less that 700 effective Iraqi Army soldiers to a division of soldiers with 12, 800 soldiers who conduct joint and independent operations. We have established quality basic training programs and have instituted the concept of a professional Non-Commissioned Officer corp and are supporting it with a NCO academy.
These facts have been release for publication by the 1st BDE (SBCT) 25th Infantry Division Public Affairs Office.
These are things that you will never hear from the mainstream media.
Furtheremore, the next time some Cindy Sheehan enabler cries about her right to "Freedom of Speech" remind them that slander is not a Constitutionaly protected right and that you know the truth about what is going on "over there"
Thank you.
Thank you.
You bet you did!
And I'm mighty proud of a particular nephew in C Co, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry who was the 10th generation of his family to bear arms for his country and the 3d generation to come home with both the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Purple Heart.
Well done Lancers and Bobcats and welcome home.
My son also just returned, Thank God. He was with A Co, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry. He returned home Sunday!!!
I am so glad for you. Please thank him for his service from my family and undoubtedly millions of other families.
Make sure he knows that there are very many of us who appreciate what he's done for us.
On 9/12, most of us were frightened by the idea of another terrorist attack within the US. Over 4 years later, too many are smug because nothing has happened. I like it that way, and your son and his buddies are a large part of the reason why.
You and fellow soldiers walk with the exhileration of knowing you have the gratitude of people all over the world.
How do we thank you all?

How do we thank you all?
Have a party! =)
Also, thanks for posting the truth that the left/MSM doesn't want America to know; that our armed forces are winning the hearts and minds of Iraqi citizens through compassion and kindness, and that real progress has been made towards snuffing out the flame of terrorism that still assails those good people.
We need more voices from men like you who have been there to offer the truth as an alternative the spun "reports" written in high rises in New York
Those were some wonderful photos you shared with us. Maybe you can get them posted..?
Lori, you sure know how to throw a party! I left there feeling like a stuffed turkey - a fresh and clean stuffed turkey that is, lol. Thanks for the soap! Sorry I had to leave so soon, I had something to get caught up on, and I um, just woke up from it! Looking forward to Christmas, if we don't come up with an excuse for something sooner!
It was great to see you! The smoked salmon is WONDERFUL. About the soap...... the darker colored bar is oatmeal soap. Um..... don't eat it! =)
