Actually I suggested that if the Russians wanted Baltic citizenship, it wasn't unreasonable for them to learn the language.

The vast majority already speak the local languages and the issue isn't that. If these people had immigrated there post independence I'd agree. The majority at issue were born in those lands. Shall we give all those born in America (well lets just say Mexicans for the sake of the argument) a language test before they can have citizenship? That's what the issue is there. Oh and how about all those damned Italians or Koreans or others who were born here in the US but lived in ethnic neighborhoods and don't speak much english, shall we kick them out? Or how about the Indians who refuse to speak english or the Peurto Riccans?

Aren't you the one who is always lecturing us Americans that we shouldn't impose our values on other countries (like Russia)? I respect the right of the Baltics to have an official language even if we don't.

But since you asked, yes I do support the movement to make English the USA's official language.
