If you're talking about the anti-Miers conservative talking heads, take a look at who they are: they are all, to a person, ones who have little or NO inside the loop information or contacts at this White House. Rove's probably not even taking their calls, so I doubt he's "directing" them.

If you're talking about the anti-Miers conservatives on this web site, most of the ones I've seen (that I actually know -- lots and lots of "newbies" chiming in) never supported Bush in the first place and have taken every opportunity to bash him in the last six years.

It's more likely than not that you're right. But the conservatives attacking Miers are doing her a favor by throwing the Democrats off guard.

I think that a lot of anti-Miers conservatives are going to be pleasantly surprised by her record on the Court.
