Was Earle at a Dem fundraiser with Rather's ugly Lib daughter?
Born in Fort Worth, Mr. Earle aspired in college to become a journalist but changed his mind and went on to study law at the University of Texas in Austin. His early career was spent working in Gov. John B. Connally's office and later as a municipal court judge.
He was elected to the Texas House in 1973, and in 1976 he ran for district attorney of Travis County, the office he has held since. He considered a run for United States Senate in 1993, but did not receive the backing of the state's most powerful Democrat at the time, Gov. Ann Richards.
