Remember when W announced that he wasn't going to use the ABA scores for his judicial picks anymore? If anyone can find the thread, I am sure there are good quotes by the GOP loyalists about how terrible the ABA is. Now we have a leading ABA person about to go on the supreme court instead of a Federalist.

Makes you wonder what will happen when her ABA clerks clash with Scalia, Thomas, and Robert's Federalist clerks - and become friends with Souter and Ginsburg' ABA clerks.

Is this the same James Pinkerton on that dreadfully awful show "Fox News Watch"?

I'm a member of the ABA, and the only thing I like about it is that they sell me cheap life insurance.

The hypocrisy is staggering. Since when has it been conservatives who seek major changes. In reality, it has been liberal activist judges who have sought to turn things upside down over the past few decades, and have by and large succeeded. We are just trying to restore common sense.

"Dreadfully awful" in the sense that they try to make the liberal media seem moderate or even conservative?
I only watch it when I want to get worked up.

I could care less about her personal affiliations or even views, if she doesn't legislate from the bench I can handle it. It doesn't look good though.

I guess you and Pinky did not see the glowing endorsement the VP of the Federalist Society gave Meirs in today's Washington Times.

An ex-White House lawyer told me that Miers was shocked to discover the lawyers in the White House counsel's office were Federalist Society types, all of them scornful of the ABA - her ABA. Ah, our old friend, the unnamed source. An ex-White House lawyer at that, not even the normal anonymous Adminstration source.
A Federalist bigwig is on the record praising Miers. One with an actual name.

Harry Reid likes Miers; and Miers likes the ABA. This is getting better all the time.
Hopefully she won't turn out to be another Souter. Still, I can't help but wonder, what exactly makes her "the most qualified candidate"? And why would Bush want to piss off the conservatives so much?
