Yep! Catha edulis and goes by other names such as Abyssinian tea, African salad, oat, kat, chat, and catha. It's psychoactive ingredient cathinone and is listed in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, a most restrictive category used by the DEA. Some of our ethnic restaurants serve it regularly.

In "Black Hawk Down" as they prepare to go in to Mogadishu and nab the bad guys they talk about the locals being all jacked up on khat. Must be pretty common in that part of the world.
