Lemme guess: He's gonna nominate his dentist to be Surgeon General.

I wonder if Bush found that Ms. Miers has a "very serious physical problem of a female nature" that would prevent her from ascending to the court.

He's gonna nominate his dentist to be Surgeon General. LOL! No... my guess is "war on terror" or his "guest-worker (amnesty)" initiative. He has to change the subject now.

Damage control Bad idea. GW does not do well speaking on his own in a Q&A format. Not unless they are Brit Hume puffball questions.

Me thinks Bush is feeling the heat of his base...Call me crazy, but shouldn't the President nominate someone who will appeal to the folks who elected him, rather than to the folks who voted against him?

No idea... but he's got to be feeling heat.
I called Brownback's office and said I expected him to grill her for any credentials, and vote against if solid ones can't be established.
Could you imagine if all the republicans had the balls to vote against? We'd get Estrada, Brown, or Luttig on the next choice.

Could you imagine if all the republicans had the balls to vote against?I'm not sure that, when referring to the Senate, you are allowed to use "republicans" and "balls" in the same sentence.

I love Pres. Bush, but I'm glad he's feeling the heat. Ms. Miers may turn out to be okay, but regrettably, there may be evidence that she ill be just as bad as O'Connor!
I share my fellow Freeper's frustration. We have the whole enchalata - the Presidency, the Senate, the House, and we are STILL cowing to Leaky Leahy and the Democrats!! I HATE THAT!
The liberals are down for the count, politically, yet we always pull them up to their feet so that they can continue to stab us in the back and destroy this country ala Cindy (Mother) Sheehan.

I usually phrase it with my own Dennis Millerism. The endocrine system of the Republican Senate has never seen the light of testosterone.

That is why this press conference is at 10:30 am and not during prime time.

He should be hearing the flashback from those who "brung him" to where he is at. I would hope he is not insensitive to what he has just done...totally pissed off his base and put at risk the future election in '06 and '08.
Most of conservatives I hear feel let down at a minimum. We...wanted...a...FIGHT! That is why many of us loved Janice Rogers Brown. She won't back down for anybody, she's a fighter. Her life has demonstrated that.
We are sick and tired of bending over and grabbing the ankles. We are damned tired of watching the liberal judges urinate all over the Constitution we hold so dear.
Now, having said that, it is very possible that Meirs is truly what we would want on the SC, but we will not know for some time, years perhaps. She may be "a pit bull in size six shoes", but a pit bull for who? There is hope. I remain open to be convinced my disappointment is unwarranted, indeed I truly pray that it is.

To all those wanting a fight over SCOTUS, Rush asked the most important question:
Do you really want to go to war with the Senate Republicans as your army?
The handwriting is on the wall. Brown, Lutting, et al would make us happy, but would be sent home because our "army" of GOP Senators lack the testicular fortitude to vote YES......

I'm planning on either writing or e-mail Norm Coleman (my senator) and asking the same things.
Mark Dayton, my other Senator? Screw him. I don't give rats ass what he thinks about anything. He's nothing but a trust fund liberal.
