I think it's hypocritical of people to say nominees shouldn't be asked how they would vote and then they get pissed when they don't know how they're going to vote. How does that make any sense? Either you want a constructionist or you want a conservative. It's possible for someone to be both but if what they really want is a conservative, then they need to stop insisting that they just want a constructionist.

I too have to think that this president has done what he thinks is right. Who am I to second guess his choice? I dont think he has failed us and Im disheartened by those who are so quick to condemn his nomination.
Ignore those people. Miers also argued for the Texas Bar Association to drop their support for abortion. And maybe it doesn't mean she's pro-life but I wouldn't argue for an organization to drop their opposition to abortion. And besides, she's a strong supporter of the president which, at the very least, shows good judgment :)
Did you hear Dobson earlier on Fox he was pleased by the pick saying that she is an evangelical christian

I think so too. Yes, I wish I knew more about her but I'm not ready to call in the firing squad because I don't know her view on every single issue. The president obviously trusts her so I'm willing to give her a chance.
Like you I've been disgusted by the comments I've been reading about Miers here on FR. But then I notice that the comments (most of them) are being made by the same third party idiots that are always first to bash Bush and any decision he makes.

I sense that so many staunch Bush conservatives feel betrayed...that he would pick such a "non-descript" person.
And, like I said, the fact that Levin and Snow BOTH helped put justices in the court that went on to rule just the opposite of what THEY were convinced he/she would do. And if they can't trust themselves, why in the heck should they trust President Bush...
Also, remember not ALL conservatives are that crazy about Roberts...and she is on the opposite side of the scale in their opinions...
All I know is....I don't feel like I know anyone tonight...President Bush shocked me this morning, and the more vitriol that I hear from people that are ususally squarely behind him....it makes be very worried and depressed.
It is like having bad things said about your child...even if you know they did wrong...and the person criticizing them loves them....you still DO NOT want to hear it!
Yes, he has helped. He was one of the ones I heard today that started to bring back my sanity. There are a few things that I wish President Bush would do differently but as far as his insight to people I do trust his opion. He has surrounded himself with very good and honest people(with the exception of 1-2). Thanks for the link.
