I think she was wrong about Roberts, but I think she's right about Miers. Let's not forget that Ann is a lawyer, and her columns show (to my mind at least) an acute legal understanding.

Even if a person is apt to shrug off her opinion-and I don't necessarily count myself in that camp-how can the opinions of so many others-left, right and center-be so cavalierly dismissed?

Thus far, the only people even tangentially connected to legal circles-outside of the clubby atmosphere that Miers has previously operated in-who have commented favorably upon her nomination are members of the ACLJ.

You're absolutely correct.

This is an astoundingly bad choice.

She is also a commentator, and while I agree with Bush's choice of Miers, based upon his past appointments and his knowledge of her, many commentators don't like her because she will likely not cause the fight with the dems that they want to see.
