This is going to blow up in his face.

Why should he care about that? He will have already gotten what he wants out of it and no one will hold him accountable in any case. At least that is the history to this point!

Good grief.

Earle is to "indictments" what Klayman is to "FOIA".

Both are used only to gain $$$ support, not effect.

What a waste. The democratic party needs to start cutting and snorting Immodium AD, they got diarrhea for brains. Sheese.

I'm reading at other sites that Earle is "taking back" the conspiricy charge and replacing it with this. What the heck is going on here?

This smacks of European countries charging President Bush and Rumsfeld with war crimes.

He might still be able to be re-elected as DA in liberal Travis County, but it seems to me that he's gambling any aspirations to higher office, as well as his place in history, by bringing these indictments.

Furthermore, if they go down in flames, which I suspect, there could be a backlash against these orchestrated sleazy Rat tactics.

Wouldn't this be the 8th Grand Jury?

Should be decided in ~ 90 days. Under Texas law, he can ask for a "speedy trial" which must then be held within 90 days.

We pause this thread for an Activist message. Avoid your next Brownie moment! The House has passed HR 3132 The Child Saftey Act, which unfortunately had a late amendment by Rep. Conyers (D) that is a Hate Crimes bill. Call your Senator on the phone.

HR 3132 is not yet scheduled for discussion in the Senate, but don't let them sneak it past us because we're not vigilant.

Here are related threads on FR.

Wonder if it was the same GJ?

Wonder if there is actually some evidence to support the charge this time....

different grand jury. Different statute to indict under. Same so called "facts" (or lack of same).

My bet as to why it's a different grand jury is that the "facts" as presented for the conspiracy indictment includes something that would negate the indictment under the money laundering statute and vice versa. He leaves out inconvenient bit of information "A" in the first grand jury and bit of information "B" in the second and gets two indictments where if he'd presented all of the "facts" to one grand jury, even his twisted and distorted ones, he couldn't have gotten any indictments.

This is odd. Ussually the charges are combined in one indictment. Why two? Why not do them both at same time?

Duh. It's Ronnie Earle. People laughed at the first indictment, so he decided to do a snowjob.

Brit discussed it. Different grand jury, same stuff, just a new take, and so new charges. It's a hatchet job.

This whole thing about the Travis County DA, being elected by only voters in Travis County being able to investigate people statewide has got to be unconstitutional.

More MSM coverage & it seems more damaging to do it this way probably. After all, the guy is making a movie of it!

I just got a 'breaking news update' from the Rocky Mountain News about this.

Must have something to do with that film crew following Earle around making him feel important?

Thanks.

Listening to DeLay describe the situation. There is no statutory basis for the conspiracy charge, so he's facing the same charge that is in the April indictment.

THis is good, because it'll be better to confront the money exchange charge heaed on than to beat the case on absence of conspiracy, i.e. "I didn't participate." Under the second rationale, the moonbats would persist in "the money exchange = corruption."
