And that Al Gore was prolife until it began to limit his national aspirations in the Democratic Party - and that he would have won the WH if he had carried his home state of Tennesee in '00.

And that Bush knows that

There's more to life than just pro-life. Gore and the Democrats were big government tax and spend property seizing quasi-socialists back then, too. And Miers was one of them. Now she isn't. Who knows what she'll be in another 20 years. At best it appears that she just follows the crowd. She's a Democrat when that's what's popular in Texas, now she's a Republicans because that's what's popular now.

I can't for the life of me understand why you're bringing in the whole "Gore was almost president" argument that usually goes hand-in-hand with "Bush is an illegitimate president."

So as conciliation of Gore almost winning 5 years ago Bush should nominate someone that supported Gore and that Gore would support?

Only to point out that Gore, whom Meirs putatively supported, lost his support in Tennesee contemporaneously with his move from prolife to proabortion - costing him the election. I said nothing about the fact that Gore very nearly stole Florida.

This very stuff is happening on Bush's watch. Have you ever read, "Nixon, The Man behind the Mask" by Gary Allen. An old, incredibly well-researched and footnoted book that revealed how much "big government growth" occurred during the Eisenhower and Nixon admins that would have shocked us had Democrats spent it!

Eisenhower's and Nixon's growth, like Bush's the last five years, would have had Clinton and other Democrats blushing...but he gets away with it...with a supposed Republican Senate and House no less.

Washington is sinking in surrender to the establishment big government mindset!
