And I surely understand her being a registered democrat way back then. Many here in Georgia would have to say the same thing, me included. Hellsbells, if you wanted to vote for sheriff, judge, school board, any local election, you had to be democrat to vote! YAHOOOO those days are long gone!

Correct. There were plenty of Republicans in Texas in the 80's. When folks think of Texas as the yellowdog democrat state, they need to realize that pretty much ended in the late 70's.
I'd vote for Zell Miller in a heartbeat, even with a big D next to his name.......Democrats weren't always the marxists they are now.

Bush I wasn't Bush II. He was barely pro-life, and he paled in comparison to RR on just about every Conservative cause. It wasn't easy voting for him in '88. Gore at the time wasn't a flaming liberal, either.
