Oh please, dude!
Do you actually think Cheney sounds persuasive? With his "well, the President believes" and so forth? I think Cheney is making it worse. And I am starting to believe that he might just be out today because of how bad a selection this is.
Cheney did not make me feel better, if anything I am more worried now then before.

Somehow I don't think the President makes decisions based on how it makes you feel.
Sorry dude!

"Do you want the Senate Republicans to be the army?" (Suggesting Bush lacks confidence in them.)
What room does this analysis leave for leadership from the president?
Whether she turns out to be good bad or indifferent is beside the point. Supreme Court nominees are a core issue for conservatives. Blaming Senate Republicans is a limp and discouraging suggestion. Some things are worth herding unwilling politicians onto stage for the purpose of some instructive political theater. Once again, we are full retreat in the Culture Wars while our leaders wink and backslap and tell us the unwashed conservative masses to pipe down and leave it to the professionals.
