I like Melanie and Lee a lot but in the last few years their show has started to get a little stale. The show format is very predictable - usually a good guest in the first half hour but then mindless banter and stock market reports in the second half. I find myself switching to different stations if the guest is not interesting, and almost always switch at the bottom of the hour.
The whole KGO lineup needs work and I suspect this is reflected in the ratings. They have Dr. Laura from noon to 3:00 which is a huge mistake. Radio 650 in Sacramento has much better programming through the day and I usually listen there as it comes in loud and clear in the Bay Area.
I suspect this move has to do with low ratings and not Melanie's political activities, as she has been an activist for many years.

Quite right. If my numbers went down, so did I(I worked in a larger market than SFO). When my numbers were good, everyone in station management loved me. Simple as that.
But you know, no matter how big or good you get, sooner or later, in broadcasting, especially in radio, you stand an excellent chance of getting the "bum's rush".
Nearly everyone, on air, that is, gets fired. It's show biz. That's just the way it is.

"I suspect this move has to do with low ratings and not Melanie's political activities, as she has been an activist for many years." Morning Show (with Lee and Mel) on KSFO is their highest-rated program by far!

Dr. Laura .. what a whining bitter little woman. I do not even understand how she is still on the air.
There are so many great conservative radio personalities that would be better than this (fake) psychologist.
