Except for the liberation of millions of people in Afghanistan and Iraq , it has been a downward spiral of disillusionment for me as per my faith in the Republican Party going back to the deportation of Elian Gonzalez ( and yes the pubbies were mostly complicit in that despicable act in the guise of fathers' rights - again spineless to the core). We can save millions but not one little boy.

We can make it red, white, and blue. Dividing the electorate into thirds (liberals, squishy moderates, and conservatives) which conservatives can win.
The opportunity is there in 2008 particularly if the choices are Hillary and McCain or Rudy. What is Goldwater Jr. doing these days? Don't know much about him but the name has a nice ring to it.
It could create a Constitutional Crisis (decided by the House of Representatives) but conservatives would finally be heard because their force would at last be counted in the numbers of a Conservative Party electorate.
