Of course he could have made a better pick in terms of solid conservative record and qualifications, but I don't think you can say that he has not chosen a solid conservative pick. It is too early to tell and we just don't know, just like we don't really know how Roberts will turn out. So I think that Mark Levin is being too sweeping in his condemnation. Plus, a blank slate will presumably be easier to get confirmed without a fillibuster on the Roberts model.

George W. is not acting like he won the election. The Democrats are being rewarded for their obstructionism. When Bork got "Borked" we got Souter as his replacement! Don't you see the similarities? We don't want a blank slate. A blank slate by definition has 50% chance of turning out to be liberal. Is this why we all slaved and sacrificed to get Bush elected? We deserved better. Instead of forcing the Democrats to show their true colors, George W. has put Conservatives, his base for heaven's sake, in a very difficult position.
