You are correct, there are no sources about Gonzales being the pick because it was mainly speculation. However, there are more than enough sources about him being pro-abortion.

The issue with Miers is that there are NO SOURCES for anything. So, let's not cloud this issue with what is now pointless bickering about some other person's politics. One thing I do know is that she gave money to Al Gore in 1988 when he was running for president, you can check that for yourself at newsmeat.com.

Dear wagglebee,

And it appears that although he was still pro-life as late as 1987, by early 1988, Mr. Gore had turned on a dime and become a pro-abort.

Mrs. Meirs gave her money to an openly pro-abort presidential candidate.

I assume that most of the posts are from DU trolls, because they easily discount the nominees accomplishments and demean her as a mere "woman" and crony. They also confuse their own ignorance with lack of qualifications, even though, obviously, there are many in better position to know and speak. Cong Billybob is right, Bush knows her well, even if you do not.

Meirs follows in the footsteps of O'Connor in bringing a practical experience in government to the court full of people who only have judicial experience.

However, I think it shows that the Senate is very limited in its view and will only approve Washington insiders. That seemed to be the case with Chertoff at DHS, Roberts, and now Meirs. We need to get some of those old goats moving on to retirement.
