I would have prefered someone with a proven Conservative track record.
Bush has asked our soldiers for courage when deploying yet he shows none himself politically on the homefront.
And in 1988, Bentsen was a fiscal conservative (and probably would have been a better Presidential candidate than Dukakis) and Gore was a social conservative.
