Once again, those seven are RINOs. They would not go along with someone like Janice Rogers Brown, and would probably be inclined to agree with the Dems that she would be too extreme. And two of the Gang are Snowe and Collins and both wanted a female to replace O'Conner. IIRC, that deal explicitly exempted Janice Rogers Brown from filibustering (not that RATs live up to their end of deals). Further, I'll admit that my check was anything but intimate, but Brown is a female.

IIRC, that deal explicitly exempted Janice Rogers Brown from filibustering But not for SCOTUS. "Extraordinary" was translated by many to mean "involving overly-conservative Supreme Court nominees." And RINOs would not stand up for Brown, IMO. She probably scares them.
