Levin is a conservative. My opinion is that Miers is a fine administrator. Not a SC judge. I still stick to my conviction that she is not the right pick, when there are at least 3 others that are much more qualified. It is fine that she is pro-life, evangelical, and all that. She is NOT SC justice material, because she is unqualified; and otherwise socially liberal.
I agree. what was wrong with Edith Jones, why couldn't she have been the pick? OK, I can understand Owens or Rogers-Brown becoming a major battle - but what about Jones?
I'm not too worried that she is unsound and liberal on interpreting the constitution. By I don't see her as the type that will be willing to see herself destroyed by the media for casting principled swing votes. Scalia and Thomas are despised in "all the right circles". Is she willing to be a social leper? The fact that she's from Texas and not New England makes me little hopeful...
How is she socially liberal?
And folks said Clarence Thomas wasn't the best qualified judge. He turned out to be the best Supreme Court justice in recent history, IMO.
She or he is only the right pick if they can be confirmed. Think about how the democrats are stuck on stupid, crazy, deranged and desperate. Why put up a candidate that will cause a bloodletting when you can get your great candidate without the lunacy?
