It's not a fake-out. That would be disastrous to fold on a nominee unless the Dems destroyed themselves to block her.

At least we can tell one good thing from her record- she was never a judge!
And, seriously, anyone nominated who wasn't a judge wouldn't have much of a record.

"The same liberties that ensure a free society make the innocent vulnerable to those who pervert rights and privileges and commit senseless and cruel acts. Those precious liberties include free speech, freedom to assemble, freedom of religion, access to public places, the right to bear arms and freedom from constant surveillance. They also include freedom from restraints until you are accused, found guilty and sentenced in a court of law and appeal rights are exhausted. We are not willing to sacrifice these rights because of the acts of maniacs. "
"...success in fighting crime in our nation is more than treating symptoms. We will only be successful in solving our massive crime problems when we attack the root causes. We all can be active in some way to address the social issues that foster criminal behavior, such as lack of self-esteem or hope, poverty, lack of health care -- particularly mental health care -- lack of education and family dysfunction. The White House whimped out and implemented its own form of affirmative action by taking care of its own before sending up the best this nation has to offer.

I am so f'ing outraged.

Probably not. I was so totally floored by the horrible-ness of this nomination when I first heard, I just couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it, really. Unfortunately, Bush is likely serious. I called my senators and told them to oppose her (not like they ever listen to me, but what the heck). On the bright side, she's 60 years old--and looks about 70 already--so maybe she won't be around for long if she's confirmed.

Anyway, good to know you're still alive. :-)
