Slick Willie aside, isn't it frightening that there may be a set of tests soon, MRI, genetic, and biological, that will sort all of us into neat boxes?

Sort of like Brave New World, except that the decision would be made post-birth, maybe in hospital; a few simple tests and your life track is set.

Sort of like Gattica, where your genotype determined your destiny.

Imagine if you are being considered for promotion to a high level, and they ask for a cheek scraping, an MRI, and a PET, plus the usual MMPI questionnaire. Or applying for work in any position of responsibility like airline pilot, bus driver, teacher, poster on FR.

Extrapolate this capability out a few years. I see more dystopias than utopias.

Another worthless study paid for by hard working tax payers. What a joke!!! The MRI of the brain in the caption shows significant amount of atrophy. We see that in older people, alcoholics, or patients who have been without oxygen. Unfortunately the gray matter is more susceptible to injury than white matter. Gray matter requires more blood flow (oxygen and glucose). The Gray matter is like the computer processor of the brain and the white matter is like the wiring.

I'd say that that really depends on whether lying brings about the brain differences or the brain differences bring about the lying. This might be evidence of those that have a seared conscience.
