Bush paints positive picture of Iraq war President says 'all Americans can have confidence' in U.S. forces

Saturday, October 1, 2005; Posted: 2:12 p.m. EDT (18:12 GMT)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush said Saturday he is encouraged by the increasing size and capability of the Iraqi security forces, touting progress on a key measure for when U.S. troops can come home.

The upbeat remarks in Bush's weekly radio address came two days after the top commander in Iraq said only one Iraqi battalion is ready to fight without U.S. support.

"All Americans can have confidence in the military commanders who are leading the effort in Iraq, and in the troops under their command," Bush said.

"They have made important gains in recent weeks and months; they are adapting our strategy to meet the needs on the ground; and they're helping us to bring victory in the war on terror."

Buffeted by criticism over his administration's response to Hurricane Katrina, Bush sought this week to shift his public focus back to Iraq and to the anti-terror fight.

Don't you inderstand? Only negative stories can be told if GWB is involved......so we will not get any good news from the WOT until or unless a liberal is the President.

But, let a major news story about NO police corruption, graft and desertion emerge and CNN rushes to cover the liberal city and state leaders with a "Heroes of the Hurricane" special running all weekend!

They will run stories to build support or raise morale only if they deem it reflects well on the liberal in power or the leftist view!

Imagine if the POTUS where to attempt to spend and hour going into details how a number of the Iraqi units are fighting, the training with details, they are receiving, how effective based on battle reports a number of them have been in the past six months with figures of how many did what and in what cities, and how they took the lead street by street as our Army and Marines stayed on the outskirts of the town and perhaps smoked some butts, then go into how we on a daily basis continue to train new recruits that sign up, levels of training they go through based on their type MOS, getting bored yet...........
now how many Americans would not start to doze at their boob tubes? And how many would remember ten percent of what he said, assuming they did not turn the channel to some damn fool show meant to keep them at the idiot level.

What is he supposed to do?

The MSM have their panties bunched up because the number of batallions that meet standards 100% fell from 3 to 1.

They omit the part about the overall strength of the Iraqi forces is increasing substantially, even though those troops do not meet the overall standards.
