Most explosives consist of a fuel and an oxidizer, usually combined either to get the explosion, or blended in anything from a stable mixture to highly unstable ones. In this case, TATP Wikpedia on TATP was suspected to be the explosive, (Triaacetonetriperoxide) and Hydrogen Peroxide is an ingredient which can be used to manufacture the explosive.
However, the average, drug store garden variety Hydrogen Peroxide is not very active compared to the concentrated stuff.
I accidentally concentrated some (I won't say how in open forum) and managed to spill a little on my finger--which is how I (painfully) made the discovery. It ate a lot of skin before I could get to a water faucet to dilute it and wash it away--a painful and immediate burn.
Yeah H2O2, hydrogen (dioxide) peroxide. Fasciating stuff: at 3-5% it's a disenfectant, at 30% its used as a bleach, at 90% it's used as rocket fuel! LOL..... The germans powerd a submarine with it in WW2.
I guess NEIN did have some things right about the TATP then....
