I have never heard about the molestation of boys in Islam. Though I'm sure in happens in all cultures. And it makes sense since they marginalize women and are clearly frightened of female sexuality.
Do you have a source? I believe you, but I like to have back up.
I just read a book called the Orientalist which was non-fiction. The person about whom the book was about traveled in what is now Iran and was offered a boy for the night as a gesture of his host's hospitality. Of course, this was before fundamentalism which in part was a reaction to these kind of cultural practices.
A while ago when Americans first went into Afghanistan, there were quite a few reports of the pederasty common there. Mature men apparently often befriend young adolescent boys, who appreciate the "friendship", and are then seduced into sodomy. The boys are then ashamed to admit it, and continue often due to fear and shame. It's apparently an "understood" but not stated kind of cultural thing. In fact, it's one of the cultural practices the Taliban tried to stamp out (instance of "even a broken clock is right twice a day" kind of thing).
FR had a picture of a couple of Afghani men dressed up with turbans and makeup. Quite revolting.
Additionally, when Muslims controlled much of India, one of the practices which shocked and disgusted the Hindus was the not uncommon practice of pederasty among the Muslim elite.
