Operation Iron Fist begins
CAMP BLUE DIAMOND, AR RAMADI, Iraq A force of approximately 1,000 Marines, Soldiers and Sailors from Regimental Combat Team-2 launched an operation against a known terrorist sanctuary in the western al Anbar province town of Sadah, in the al Qaim region approximately 12 km. from the Syrian border.
Operation Kabda Bil Hadid, or Iron Fist in English, began in the early morning hours in order to root out al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists operating in the area and to disrupt terrorist support systems in and around the city.
For the past several months, terrorists within Sadah have escalated their intimidation and murder campaign against the local populace and city government officials. The resulting effect was an increased ability to move freely within the area and a base for them to launch attacks against innocent civilians, Iraqi Security forces and Coalition forces.
By interdicting foreign fighters flowing in from the Syrian border, the operation will also serve as a way to provide security for the upcoming referendum.
As with all coalition operations, strict measures are taken to prevent civilian casualties and unnecessary collateral damage to property.
More information will be released as it becomes available.

Good luck and Godspeed, fellas!
We need to hurt Syria, just to get their attention. I think they have lost respect for America's power.
as the great American poet and musician James Hetfield once said "kill 'em all"
Lemmy at 'em!
I think we should allow a Tomahawk to "mistakenly" hit a Syrian military target. Some pet project of Baby Assad's. We can offer profound regrets, insist it was only a computer glitch, but all the while send a strong message about who they are dealing with.
That is what I am talking about! I think multiple "computer glitches" are in order.

Yes, I absolutely agree with you.
On "off-course" Tomahawk or a "lost" or confused" pilot (with a rack of bombs) might help Assad get a clue as to our seriousness about sealing their border.
Bush's national security team is due to meet Saturday to review policy toward Syria, the officials said. Options range from tougher economic sanctions to limited military action. One official involved in the deliberations said military action is unlikely for now.;)
So that's why he is at Camp David this weekend !!!!!!
I hope this is a deek, then we slam them. I am a Braves fan and I want to chant the Tommahawk.

The first day of Operation Iron Fist concludes. Eight terrorists are killed during separate engagements and one is captured - a potential source of intelligence on the enemy's infrastructure and defenses in the town. Multiple car bombs are destroyed. Airstrikes, infantry and armor were utilized during the day's fighting. The fighting appears to be occurring at the perimeter of the Sada, and the insurgents are either attempting to flee the assault or are attacking the Marines head on. No Marine casualties have been reported. Captain Patrick Kerr sends a roundup of the day's fighting:
Coalition Forces, including helicopters from 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, engaged and killed eight armed terrorists in fighting early in the day.***************************************
See link at #12 for rest of the report.
I believe it is SHAKE AND BAKE TIME. GETSOME and other things.
I also would add, I offer a heart felt prayer the good and almigthy Lord will keep His hand over our Marines, Army, and the Iraqi troops as they go in to clean out these nests of terribly misguided goons that think it is fine to injure and kill innocent people. May HIS almighty hand be over our men as they do battle and spare the from harm.
" We need to hurt Syria, just to get their attention. I think they have lost respect for America's power."
Somehow I don't think that is the case. More like Asad each day, wakes up and waits to hear reports come in on where cruise missiles are landing in terrorist camps with pin point accuracy. And wondering what day Marines and Special Forces will actually move across the borders after an airdrops warns the Syrian military to just sit still and let them pass or they all will have to die quite quickly. Believe me the Syrian military know if we have to come in, their as$ is grassed.
Bring back their heads on poles, Marines.
