Probably very little. You seemed to emphasize the 'messianic' aspect while I looked more to the practical. I agree with you on your bottom line above.
I think both aspects are important, especially given their world-view. There really isn't much parallel in Christianity outside of a few of the sects; for the vast majority of Christians - even those who expect the Second Coming to happen very soon - questions of eschatology and the 'end-times' are viewed more as 'watchful waiting' rather than as something which they should be actively trying to bring about.
And I've expressed my opinion before that what they may actually bring about if they're successful would have a closer parallel in Christian eschatology to the reign of the Beast than to that of Christ ...
