OFF TOPIC, FOR ANIMAL LOVERS:

PRIEST INVITES ANIMALS INTO CHURCH

A priest from Suffolk, England, has
revealed he is accompanied
to his church services by a group of animals.
Father Peter MacLeod-Miller, 43, keeps a
donkey, lambs, goats
and alpacas in a paddock at his rectory and takes
them to the church
in Barrow.
Australian-born Father MacLeod-Miller said,
"Animals are central
figures in many Biblical stories. I just find
they can help people
relax and add interest."
According to BBC online he added, "It's
hard to doze off in
church when there's a donkey standing in the
aisle. People seem to
like them."
He keeps two goats, three lambs, three
alpacas, 30 chickens and a
donkey in a paddock at his rectory.
He takes the animals to services at All
Saints Church and uses
them when working in schools and making visits.

Iranian agents in U.S?
United Press International (Excerpt) ^ | October 25, 2005 | Claude Salhani

Posted on 10/25/2005 10:20:47 PM PDT by HAL9000

Excerpt -

Iranian Intelligence agents have entered the United States to
spread disinformation, according to the Iran Policy Committee,
a group composed mostly of former U.S. government officials
who are lobbying the Bush administration for regime change in
Teheran.

The agents, who reportedly flew into the United States from
Toronto, Canada, using Dutch and British passports, held a
news conference at the National Press Club in Washington
Monday -- except no press showed up. When opponents of the
Tehran regime who were present took photos and videos, the
agents tried to have security officers confiscate the films and
tape.

The Iran Policy Committee believes the agents are in the
country as "a disinformation ploy mounted by the new
president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is mobilizing
Iranian intelligence services in a world-wide series of probes
against the United States."

The IPC is also lobbying the Bush administration to take the
Mujahedeen-e-Khlaq, or MeK, off the terrorist list.

Bigger, Stronger Homemade Bombs Now to Blame
for Half of US Deaths (Iran aids Zarqawi)
WP ^ | October 26 2005 | John Ward Anderson

Posted on 10/25/2005 8:06:27 PM PDT by jmc1969

BAGHDAD, Oct. 25 -- After 31 months of fighting in Iraq, more than
half of all American fatalities are now being caused by powerful
roadside bombs that blast fiery, lethal shrapnel into the cabins of
armored vehicles, confronting every patrol with an unseen, menacing
adversary that is accelerating the U.S. death toll.

It took about 18 months from the start of the March 2003 invasion of
Iraq to reach 1,000 U.S. deaths; it took less than 13 months to reach
1,000 more. A major reason for the surge, statistics show, is the
insurgency's embrace of IEDs, together with the military's inability to
detect them.

"It's the dreaded IED that's killing our soldiers," said Michael White,
the creator of http://icasualties.org , a Web site that tracks U.S.
military casualties. "I read in the paper that we have some new device
to detect them, or we're taking extra care to make sure we don't get
hit, and death after death keeps coming in, and it's IEDs."

According to a former Iraqi army officer who lives in the insurgent
stronghold of Ramadi and is now a member of al Qaeda in Iraq, the
group headed by Abu Musab Zarqawi, insurgents have advanced
beyond the crude bombs they once used, such as dynamite or
gunpowder mixed with nails and buried beside a road. Now, he said in
an interview, militants have access to TNT from Iran that he said was
about seven times stronger than the TNT available in Iraq. He said
they were also using old Austrian missiles from the former Iraqi army
and detonating them with electric wires, cell phones and other
remote-control devices.

Russia holds former U.S. prisoner (Only one type of
'good' Islamonazi....dead)
UPI ^ | 10/25/2005

Posted on 10/25/2005 11:06:53 PM PDT by jb6

MOSCOW, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Russia is holding a former U.S. prisoner
from Guantanamo Bay in the attack this month in the southern
Russian town of Nalchik in which 128 people died.

Rasul Kudayev, who was returned to Russia in February last year, was
detained on Sunday at his home in Nalchik, say his mother and
lawyer, reports The Times of London.

Russian media said the 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of
taking part in the Oct. 13 raid on Nalchik, capital of the
Kabardino-Balkariya republic. His lawyer Clive Stafford Smith said the
allegations were based on a groundless tip-off.

Stafford Smith, who is with a British charity, is helping Kudayev and
six other Russian Guantanamo prisoners to sue the United States over
their treatment.

Kudayev was among those arrested by U.S. as "enemy combatants" in
Afghanistan in 2001 and taken to Guantanamo Bay.

The Baghdad Attack: The Real Targets Not
journalists, says Zarqawi (Time supports the
Terrorists!)
Time ^ | Oct. 26, 2005 | CHRISTOPHER ALLBRITTON

Posted on 10/26/2005 10:19:58 AM PDT by jmc1969

Monday's deadly attack on Baghdad's Palestine Hotel, a large,
well-coordinated assault claimed by al-Qaeda involving truck bombs
which killed at least six people, was thought to target the many
foreign journalists who stay there. But sources inside the Iraqi
insurgency tell TIME that the real target was a security firm based in
the hotel.

The raid was a joint operation between al-Qaeda in Iraq, the
organization headed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and Jaysh
al-Muhammad, one of the largest Ba'athist groups. Al-Qaeda claims
Iraqis from a suicide group called the Lions of Bara'a bin Malik drove
the actual vehicle bombs. In a statement, al-Qaeda claimed the attack
went after "the intelligence agencies, American, Australian and British
security companies and the thieves of the treasures of Iraq," referring
to contractors. The insurgents believe the targeted security firm is
actually a Western or Israeli government intelligence agency.

Russian 'advisors' arrive in Gaza; train security
forces
Synoeca ^

Posted on 10/26/2005 10:58:09 AM PDT by Alex Marko

10/26/2005 - Russian military officers have arrived in the Gaza strip to
train security forces in hopes of establishing law and order in the
anarchic coastal region.

According to both Russian and Palestinian officials, military advisors
have crossed over the border of Gaza and Egypt to assess the
requirements and assistance needed for security forces and to provide
the Palestinian Authority ammunition and light arms. Initially, the
Russian advisors will focus operations in the Gaza Strip and then move
on to the West Bank.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov confirmed the reports during a
press conference in Paris stating that "Russian Foreign Ministry and
Defence Ministry officials arrived in the Palestinian Territories to assist
in training the security forces, whose capabilities were undermined
during the Intifada". Earlier this year, Russia offered the Palestinian
Authority two upgraded Mi-17 medium transport helicopters and 50
ex-Russian armed forces BRDM-2 4 x 4 armoured scout vehicles which
was denied by the Israeli government. Tel Aviv was surprised to learn
of the entry of the Russians into Gaza without the proper diplomatic
channels used to convey their arrival plans.

Alongside the Russians in Gaza are the Egyptian intelligence officers
trying to avert a possible confrontation between the Palestinian
Authority, Hamas and Hizbollah. Increased Russian participation in the
region has worried the Israeli’s, who also note that Russia has
recently agreed to sell sophisticated rockets and anti-aircraft systems
to Syria.
