'Deadly force' law worries police
The dude tried to use the deadly force excuse for killing his roommate. Cops say it may make their job harder.
"I can see someone innocently relying on this law and thinking they have a license to kill."
How can someone "innocently" assume they have a license to kill? Or am I misunderstanding him in thinking his implication is "license to murder"? Condemnation of murder is one of the few laws that've been found common to nearly every culture examined. Even most cannibals have rules agains murder - it's just that they define murder as killing family and friends, which means killing those outside their group is okay. ;)
I can certainly imagine some thug thinking he can take advantage of the law to kill someone and claim he was acting in self defense - but that ain't an innocent act on his part.
