HILLAH, Iraq Sep 30, 2005 — Sunni insurgents hit two Shiite towns in two days with brutal bombings that killed more than 110 people, apparently aiming to scare Shiites away from a crucial vote on Iraq's new constitution. In the latest attack, a car bomb ripped through a fruit and vegetable market crowded with Friday morning shoppers.

Folks, this is not an indictment on our soldiers, how we got there, or any of that.

Yes there are some good things happening over there. But when the world’s superpower cannot stop IRAQI citizens from being bombedkilled a few times a week it’s a bad serious problem.

Forget any global strategy etc, we invaded a sovereign nation and they deserved more than this level of violence from imported insurgents. The IRAQI PEOPLE deserve more from AMREICA.

Its time to take Sahdam and his party out of this equation. AMERICA OWES THE PEOPLE OF IRAQ.

They're not going to derail the election this month by their brutal campaign of terror upon the Iraqi people. In fact, their massacre of civilians is testimony to their losing the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people.

The Sunni's are targeting Shiites, hoping for a civil war.

Imagine living in a row house. You keep your place clean, but the neighbors on both sides are pigs. No matter how often you fumigate, the bugs from the neighbors' houses keep coming into your place. You can kill every one you see, but they breed safely where you can't get at them.

This is how Iraq is - sandwitched in between Syria and Iran. No matter how many terrorists we kill in Iraq, they keep coming back in from next door.
This is the same kind of stupidity that cost us the Vietnam war. We were cowed by international opinion, and refused to take the fight to Russia, China, Laos or Cambodia.
And the price of our failure was paid in blood in the Killing Fields.
The Iraqi people deserve better than the betrayal, misery and death to which we abandoned the people of Southeast Asia.

I simply cannot see a way out of this now. Genocide is almost inevitable for Iraq's Sunni's. The insurgents are allowed to freely operate within their communities. How long will it be before the Kurds and the Shiite's resort to unrestrained violence to bring these daily attacks to an end so some semblance of order can be restored to the country.

Why? The Sunni's are a minority and would be wiped out.

The Shiites will gain most by passage of the new Iraqi Constitution - giving them the majority of power.

They are giving diplomacy a chance. If that doesn't work, I agree, Sunnis will be toast.

No there is no way out. Leaving would be the worst thing.

What if we brought IRAQIS HERE like we do for the hurricane victims, Sister City's and that?

But when the world’s superpower cannot stop IRAQI citizens from being bombedkilled a few times a week it’s a bad serious problem.

It's not an American failure. We can no more prevent the Sunnis from killing Shiites than we could prevent redheads from killing brunettes, if they were absolutely bound and determined to do it. We can try, but will just look like complete failures if we try too hard.

The fault is with islam and Iraq, not America. We had every right to go in there and depose Saddam and his regime, to protect ourselves from what he was cooking up for us. But we have no obligation to civilize the savages who are left behind after we've achieved our main objective. We should just stand back now after the constitution is adopted and let the Iraqis fight each other to the last man if they so desire -- then go into Iran and Syria and leave them in the same primal state.

It's all about protecting ourselves for the forseeable future, nothing more, imo.

Thank You.. All of You for your voices your input.

I cannot reject all that you say, and I do not. Not all the IRAQIS are those people.
H*** we cant even keep NO in line. I as an American feel a commitment to those good IRAQI people.

I agree it is critical to win in IRAQ, but wining IMO is also a victory for them. This war is becoming symbolic of the USA. Let it not become the self fulfilling prophecy of the left

Just exactly what changes will the piece of paper (constitution) make? It is meaningless unless there is a means of enforcement and at this time, it just doesn't exist.

The bombings/killings will continue and the constitution will not make the Sunnis and Shiites kiss and make nice. We, Americans, of all people should know that forced integration causes more problems than it solves yet we are hell bent on forcing a failed social engineering plan on the Iraqis. When will we (politicians & liberal do gooders) learn?

You are right. Lets take over the whole region. We can bomb them back to the 7th century. We can set up puppet governments and a military. We can convert them to Christianity and teach them to be peaceful capitalists we can ..we can..we can.. Naaa just nuc um. It's cheaper.

By that then, and the rest you said we should have pulled out already, agree? But we have not.

If the USA is an occupying nation, then I think we owe it to the people of that nation to be greater than other occupying nations, agree?

I'm like the old George Bush; I don't believe in nation building, lol.

But yes, I agree with you -- and with Dubya. We shouldn't cut and run now. However, I wouldn't like to see us stay there forever either, though that may become necessary. It seems to me our obligation is a limited one. We're never going make Sunnis and Shiites love one another.

We should give them this democracy, help them build up their army so they can defend themselves. Then we should get the heck out. My understanding is that that is exactly what Dubya intends to do and I agree with him. I'd just like to see it happen sooner rather than later -- after we overthrow Syria and Iran.

One thing's for certain, there are going to be many perils and disadvantages for us no matter what we do.

Personally, I wonder if the Kurds and the Shiites should give them what they want.
