SIERRA VISTA - A Mexican man died in Cochise County on Wednesday after illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, authorities said Thursday.
Marco Hugo Hernandez-Tellez, 26, of Michoacan, Mexico, was found dead after a group asked for help.
The Cochise County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call from a man at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, said Carol Capas, a department spokeswoman.
"Stating that he needed help, and he was with a group of seven people," she said. "One of the members of the group was apparently down."
The caller told dispatch that his group was near some railroad tracks and a river, but didn't know much else about their location.
"He didn't know where they were other than they had crossed into Naco, Arizona" about a day and a half prior, Capas said.
The U.S. Border Patrol received a call at about the same time, with the caller indicating "someone had approached a residence, asking for help," Capas said.
Border Patrol personnel responded to the very east end of Barataria Boulevard in Palominas, near the San Pedro River, and "encountered a group with one deceased," Capas said.
The Border Patrol took custody of the group of illegal immigrants.
No foul play is suspected in the man's death. The body has been sent to the Cochise County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. Capas said Hernandez's kin was notified.

ARRRGHHHH!
No foul play suspected but do you think if you died the FBI would just "Show up"?
IMO they are just waiting for some American sick of the useless government NOT doing it's job and taking the law into his or her own hands.
Sad but preventable.
Are the others in the group going to be deported?
Great, carry a cell phone, when in trouble call 911 - USA.
This should be of intrest to all of us. Why did this man die, was it merely dehydration, or did he have a disease that accelerated the effects of dehydration?
I am sorry this happened so close to your house.
Very preventable if the border was what it should be.
On a side note, the neighbor that called did not call BP or the sheriff. He called 911 for EMS when two of the group came to his house for help. They thought the man was having a heart attack. EMS never came, the operator just sent BP. Dept. of the Interior had to come and cut fences because they were on BLM property. Don't have a clue about why the others were there. Maybe they were just bored.
The others in the group thought he was having a heart attack. The radio said the coroner suspected a diabetic seizure or something similar.
Could you give this a ping?
ping
Thanks!
You guys probably heard this on the radio and in the newspaper. Hubby says they pulled out a total of 27. the others were just on the other side of the river.
The BP Breakfast gang were talking about that over coffee this morning.
Too bad the man died. I hope that he didn't leave behind a family that he was trying to support.
Guy could have perished while transporting drugs, from an accidental overdose, risk of his "work" or related.
But, I agree, the FBI just showing up like that shows that they're anticipating violence in the area, which is no surprise to most of us, least of all them, I am thinking.
But the drug transport issue, a guy dying from that, I doubt that'd get the FBI there so quickly (just inside the border, also, so not likely it's Americans involved), so you're probably right, the FBI anticipated/anticipates certain violence on the border, to no one's surprise.

Sad that he died that close to help.
