TIFTON, Ga. -- Five men are dead and at least six others wounded in a series of attacks around the southern Georgia town of Tifton.

At least two of the wounded are in critical condition.

Authorities said the attacks appear to be part of a string of robberies targeting Hispanic immigrants at trailer parks. They said some victims were beaten with baseball bats, but at least one was shot.

Police are looking for two people who might have been involved in committing the crimes, and they believe the attacks are connected.

A man who said his uncle and cousin were killed in their trailer said the four dead are all immigrants from Mexico, and all but one belonged to the same family.

I used to drive through there regularly. A nice town.

A lot of labor intensive agriculture in the area so it could be Illegals.

TIFTON, Ga. - Five men were killed and at least six other people were wounded in what appeared to be a string of robberies targeting Hispanic immigrants at trailer parks in and around the city early Friday, authorities said.

Two suspects were being sought.

Some of the victims were beaten with an aluminum baseball bat found at one of the scenes, and at least one victim was shot, Colquitt County Sheriff Al Whittington said.

The attacks took place in southern Georgia, about 180 miles south of Atlanta. Three were in Tift County; a fourth was in neighboring Colquitt County.

"We think they're tied together," said Colquitt County Sheriff's Capt. Hal Suber.

All the dead were immigrants from Mexico, and all but one belonged to the same family, according to Francisco Dominguez, who said his uncle and a cousin were killed in their trailer on the outskirts of town.

"He came here to work and here is where he died," Dominguez said. "He should have gone out to build chicken houses this morning."

Whittington said the attacks might be linked to other robberies of immigrants in the area over the past two weeks.

Immigrants "carry large sums of cash and that makes them an easy prey," the sheriff said. "I don't think it has anything to do with race or hate."

Among the wounded, at least two were in critical condition, said Mike Lewis, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent.

In the Colquitt County attack, a man was shot in the head and beaten with a baseball bat, and his wife was hit in the mouth, Suber said. The man was in stable condition. Suber said it appeared the woman would be OK.

This is Hispanic on Hispanic violence. Over what is not apparent yet. Maybe meth or a woman or people smuggling?

I suspect the same thing. Many of them seem to have no fear.

When I lived in Western Kansas, a guy driving a pickup waved to a group of Hispanic Girls. Several of their male friends chased him down. He got a high powered rifle out and demanded they leave him alone. They just kept coming so he killed one or maybe more, can't recall exactly.

I remember the sheriff locked him up for his own protection which many people thought was unjust but it might have been a good idea.

Thanks for the link.

Tifton, GA -- Three migrant workers were murdered in the home invasion, and we are told that several others were injured in a separate attack in the Tifton city limits.

People have died in at least three mobile home parks. A Hispanic father and son have been found dead at Quality Mobile Home Park. Three others who were perhaps in that home were transported to the hospital. Two went to Phoebe Putney in Albany, and one person was transported to Macon. We understand that the people were beaten with a bat.

At Town and Country Mobile Home Park, two people were killed, and another was transported to the hospital. All the victims are Hispanic males.

We are investigating the report of yet another death in the Good neighbor Mobile Home Park. Law enforcement has not given a report yet on the apparent murders in Tift County. Local law enforcers are on the scene, along with the GBI.

We are trying to confirm reports of similar attacks in Norman Park, Adel, and Moultrie.

Tifton law enforcement are asking anyone who can speak Spanish, might be of Hispanic descent, or who might have any helpful information to come forward. They don't want anyone to be afraid of approaching the police at this time, because they need all the help they can get.

If there's a trailer park in Georgia there's meth.
