Well, a Rollex watch is a "necessity" for a cop. They have to know what time the donut shops open.

Don't you have to have police for them to be right?

What happened to the story of 500 missing police officers as reported by the FBI??

Where is the real story?

Why the red herrings?

It seems like most people have a blind spot when it comes to treating any collection of people as an abstract think with universal and monolithic properties. It doesn't matter if someone it talking about police officers, fire fighters, corporations, the government, churches, teachers, or whatever. Like Soylent Green, they are all made up of people and some of those people may be good and some of them may be bad. It's always dangerous to assume otherwise.
