You need to calm down. "Common era" refers to the era in which Judaism and Christianity have coexisted. It is indeed supposed to date from the birth of Jesus, but it omits the Christian reference to Jesus as "the Christ" out of respect for the fact that Jews don't regard him as such.

Oh, my! You are worked up, aren't you. Well, here's the deal. Scientists come in all religions, and none at all in some cases. Christianity is the religion of less than 1/3 of the population of the world.

So, science uses BCE for dates, since than nomenclature has nothing to do with religion. More often, when dealing with fossils, they use BP, which is short for Before Present.

Guess what? Science uses the metric system, too.

So, calm down, please. Nobody's out to get you or destroy your beliefs.
