Justifying Actions In Travis County
KLBJ Radio | Jarhead1957

Posted on 09/30/2005 7:46:07 AM PDT by Jarhead1957

KLBJ Radio had a call today from the Foreman of the Grand Jury who stated that Ronnie Earle presented compelling evidence against Tom DeLay. Seems he is trying to justify their actions. /Sarc

Yeah right....he's one of the LBJ hanger on's. Trying to get revenge for losseing control of Texas because of Just this very thing. Using the legal system to destroy your enemies, when you can't win at the ballot box.

Former Rep. Chris Bell, a Houston Democrat who lost the primary election in his newly-drawn district under DeLay's redistricting plan, filed the initial ethics complaint against DeLay. He accused him of taking bribes, money laundering and giving special favors to Republican donors.

Chris Bell, one of the most disgusting humans to be found in Texas politics.

Does anybody know the story about whether Delay was asked to testify before the GJ? The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Delay says he was never invited, but say that his attorney and the foreman say he was invited. The Chronicle, of course, is presenting it as though Delay is lying. Does anyone know the facts about this since you can't trust a thing the Chronicle says.

I would like to see Ronnie spanked in public.

He is invisible in Austin.

Hey, did you hear a news report on KLBJ-AM sometime in the last couple of days that the Austin NAACP is going after Earle for not prosecuting APD officers for supposed brutality against minorities?

I only try to post during my lunch hour or from home. I did hear that one the way to work today.

Also, how about the grand jury forman saying that they DID NOT look at any other politicans, EXCEPT Tom DeLay.

I smell Pepe Le Puuuuuuhhhhhhh....

Bet about now Ronnie wishes Mr Gibson would shut up. My guess is the DeLay defense team is taping it all.

To be honest, I have no idea. I think the morning show guys have gone into greater detail about Earle than Jeff Ward has in the afternoon, and I don't always get to catch them. But Earle certainly seems as political as the politicians to me.

I heard DeLay (on TV) say that he never testified before the Grand Jury (meaning to me that this Grand Jury indicted him without hearing all the evidence).

But I did hear that about two weeks ago, he gave sworn testimony with his legal team to the Grand Jury. At that time, Ronnie "can ya believe him" Earle said that it looked like no charges would be forthcoming.

Lying piece of scum = Ronnie Earle (who needs to be prosecuted for holding the six firms hostage for the six-figure donations he made them give his "cause")

I wouldn't say he was done in the court of public opinion. A poll today, on an earlier thread, had 39 percent of the people thought he was innocent and, I think, about 34 percent thought he was guilty. So I would say he hasn't been hurt too badly and what really matters is what happens in court of before court as the case may be.

But recent press reports seem to ignore the fact that Earle, as part of the DeLay case, also has criminally indicted eight U.S. corporations, including Sears and Cracker Barrel, Bacardi USA, Westar Energy, Williams Companies, and several other companies.

At the time, Earle said he could prove "the outline of an effort to use corporate contributions to control representative democracy in Texas."

The companies, of course, denied wrongdoing.

But Earle later cleared the companies after demanding they make donations to charities he backed. Reportedly he sought as much as $1 million from Sears. In the end, Earle was said to have "persuaded" these companies to fork over six-figure donations in exchange for clearing them of wrongdoing.

Earle's history has not been lost on DeLay supporters.

Jeff Ward is only good on "fluff". He isn't educated or intelligent enough to handle political stuff.

Sounds like you're being held hostage now. I was on the left coast for a while and watched Seattle taken over by the California Borg and now Portland is infected. I guess Austin is a goner too.

Some of your better people are put on Grand Juries.

Really? I don't know ANYBODY who's not retired who could afford to take six weeks off work to sit on a Grand Jury.

IOW, only people with lots of time on their hands seem to end up on them.
