If that was the case no and knowing our media that may have been the case but if it was just a judge ordering such I say horse hockey.

"Looks like to me that this self-righteous judge is pandering for votes."

You know when the election is, then. Please share it with us. I will support this judge.

She was just elected last Nov. and has a four-year term. She is a Republican and a Methodist Sunday School teacher.

No problem, I shouldn't have been so quick to critisize, I usually don't do that without thinking but today has not been a good day for me and maybe I was looking for someone to take it out on. Except my appology and have a great day.

So she has over 3 years until re-election? Most politicians don't pander for votes this early..

Some of the 17 year-olds who are now fornicating with anyone they choose at any time, taking drugs and selling themselves or committing other crimes to pay for the drugs, and are uncontrolled in dress, language and attitude will matriculate through Columbia or Berkeley law schools. They will be the Sheehan-type supporters, and will be nominated in 30 to 40 years to seats on the US Supreme Court by Clinton/Gore/Dukakis/Kerry types. Please suggest ways that I can protect my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from them.

Well, for starters, we support judges like the one referenced in this thread. I'll get back to you with more thoughts - not a lot of time now..

Can judges infringe on your constitutional right to bear arms?

Courts say yes.

Convicted felons can't own guns.

Yes. And that is wrong, too.

The issues raised by Judge Blake's conduct are real simple and straight forward: Is the rule of law more important than the "made up" rules this crazy judge follows in imposing her own sense of political and moral "correctness". The age of consent for sexual relations in Texas is 17 years old. Should a single person of that age be engaged in sexual relations? Probably not a good idea, and her parents, pastor, and friends would probably counsel against such choice. But, no governmental official, including a judge, should order her not to engage in legal conduct under compulsion of prison. What's next? Will Blake order probationers to go to church in order to stay out of prison? And, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if she would exercise her omnipotence to instruct and direct to "the right church".

This is not an issue of politics. The newly confirmed Chief Justice of the United States, John Roberts , stated that judges should be "modest" and should not make law. Judges should follow the law. Judge Blake is not only trying to "make law" but she is breaking the law. Where does she get off on controlling citizen's lawful sexual activities, right to body art, choice of clothing, and jewelry? The system has regulated the conduct of those under probation, now called community supervision, for decades. The conditions of staying out of jail such as don't commit anymore criminal acts, avoid folks with criminal records, get a job or stay in school, just for example, work well and are time tested. But, a judge's order that you have a choice - no sex, no tattoos, no piercings, etc., or you go to jail is something that we think might be the norm in Stalin's Russia or Hitler's Germany. Not in America. Not in Texas. Not in Fannin and Grayson Counties. Not now. Not ever!

Judge Blake remains unrestrained by our statutes, common law and constitution. She is a clear and present danger. She should be removed from office. What is the judicial branch doing about this rogue?

If she was eighteen, I'd agree. She's a minor though. My guess is that her parents felt like she was out of control and asked the judge for these conditions. It's different when it comes to juveniles. At least in my state and probably even Texas, unemancipated juveniles are required by law to obey the lawful commands of their parents. If parents don't want their kids having sex, whether it is technically legal for them to have sex does not matter. It's not legal if the parents tell the kids not to do it. For juveniles to get tattoos or piercings without parental consent is probably also illegal, especially if the parents forbid it.

I don't think parents should smother their children and I don't like judges coming in and parenting for parents, although sometimes there is no other way around that. But, parents have a right to bear and raise children the way they see fit. The law (usually) protects a parent's right to do this and sometimes courts even step in and help a parent do this when the child's behavior beyond the control of the parents. I don't think it's such a big deal.

Do you know what happens to adults who have sex with juveniles who are over the age of consent? Often they are charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The "adult" could be just a year or two or even just a few months older than the child. People are regularly convicted of this. I know of at least one man sitting in the jail across the street for it right now. Sex by these juveniles is considered "delinquent" behavior. So is getting tattoos and tattoo artists who give juveniles tattoos without parental consent face high fines and possible loss or suspension of their license.

These are just the laws. I don't make them, and I certainly don't agree with every law we have. We have way too many damned laws. I don't know enough about the case mentioned in this article to know whether this judge exceeded her authority or not. It is quite possible though that she did not exceed her authority given the current state of the laws. That's the only point I have been trying to make in these posts.

When I was 17 my parents were idiots. Now at 43 they are the smartest people on earth.

However, I did not follow the other saying, what is it something like, when you are young you are liberal minded, when you get older you become conservative. The old liberal is a dangerous thing....

Can any of you guys/gals come up with the quote I am looking for ? I cut to the chase here.

I was always right minded...(smiles)
